Stanford had a pre-Independence Day fireworks show on July 3 to the "sizzling" sounds of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.  We skipped the concert, but camped out on the Oval with hundreds of other people after dark to witness the fireworks.  The evening was slightly cool, but still muggy, in typical July fashion.  As the fireworks got going, people actually started getting surprisingly into it, ooh'ing and aah'ing.  We were close enough to hear the loud explosions of the fireworks going off, setting off car alarms around the Oval and making some young children cry.  All in all, a fun summer outing - and a great way to usher in the Fourth.
