I heard about the 17 Mile Drive when I was asking around for a gooddaytrip that would act as an escape from some stress and entertain my parentsat the same time. Well, it worked. We headed out on a beautiful, clear Saturdaymorning and would not be disappointed (although I’ve heard it’s just as stunningon a stormy day).

After paying a small fee to enter Pebble Beach,we were given a map with all the landmarks and their descriptions. We cruisedwith the windows down, smelling the fresh, beach air and stopping at everylandmark to explore. The great conversation against the backdrop of gorgeousscenery was remarkable. The entire time we were on the lookout for the tree that is Pebble Beach’s symbol, the “LoneCypress”, and we finally found it towards the end of our ride. The 17 miles turned into a few hours, and I can’tthink of a more relaxing way to spend a Saturday.
