sitges, spain

Just a thirty minute train ride from Barcelona, Sitges is a beautiful beach town. The beach boasts clear blue water and fine-sand beaches. Even if you're not going for the beach, the town in and of itself is a must-visit. It has windy streets lined with cafes and cute little boutiques. It is really quaint and you don't even have to speak Spanish there. German is just as useful because half the town is settled by Germans. The beaches here are not as nice as the Balearic Islands, but it's much cheaper and much more accessible. A convenient alternative to escape the crowded beaches of Barcelona.
