Well, it may not be able to offer a white Christmas, but Hong Kong oozes Christmas spirit. The decorations displayed on every square foot of shopping or street area seemed simultaneously foreign and over the top - and uniquely Hong Kong: bold, perhaps even crass, and colorful. An interesting commentary on local consumption culture and its interaction with American patterns.
These photos are all of decorations from various shopping and restaurant/bar areas clustered around the Central district. Clearly some liberal intepretation of the classics - not sure I've seen a Christmas elf in a bikini, a jester, or a holiday pagoda that frequently - but hey, it's the holiday spirit, and it definitely put us in the mood for eggnog.
