Notre Dame Stadium

In the college football world, there are very few places to watch a game like Notre Dame Stadium. From the second we drove into South Bend (or rather, crawled into South Bend; every single road was jam packed), we knew that football was more than just football in this town. With vendors on the side of the road selling all sorts of Fighting Irish gear, it was hard not to get swept up in the excitement of Saturday football. After finally making it to the parking lot and working our way to the stadium through the masses of tailgating fans, took a quick peak at "Touchdown Jesus" before finding our seats. Sitting in our seats I could just imagine watching "Rudy" record a sack in the last play of the game.

The rich tradition of Notre Dame Football was pulsating throughout the stadium the entire game, but I was particularly taken by the student section's ritual after each Irish score. The section probably took up almost 20% of the stadium, and, following each touchdown, a student every 10 feet or so would get lifted up by the surrounding students and lifted up or down. It was mesmerizing watching hundreds of horizontal students moving up and down. Although the game turned out to be a blowout in ND's favor, it was still an incredible experience!
