Badami is a town in Karnataka that was founded by an early ruler of the Chalukya dynasty. It is known for its rock-cut cave temples. There are many caves, mainly dedicated to Vishnu, with a few dedicated to Shiva, one for Buddha, and one for the Jain Tirthankars to display the religious tolerance of the leaders. They are displays of the early stages of South Indian design and sculpture and architecture, and contain some of the most amazing sculptures you have even seen.
The natural scenery around the caves also provides some truly amazing views and shots. You leave Badami wishing you never had to leave.
