Majorca is the largest of the Spanish
Balearic islands and is in the Mediterranean sea off the southern coast of
Spain. As the island is located in the Med, the weather is beautiful, remaining
sunny through most of the year and the calm water is good for swimming.
The island has many good resorts like Alcudia, Magaluf, Pollensa and the
capital Palma de Mallorca. The island is popular with tourists and the
facilities in the resorts are very good. Magaluf is the party capital of
Majorca and has its own casino and various bars and nightclubs. For a more
relaxing time, visit the cathedral “La Seu” or Bellver castle, both in Palma de
Mallorca.
There are restaurants in Palma that serve the traditional tapas and a variety
of seafood. Across the rest of the island Palma Nova and Magaluf have a range
of cafes, perfect for a snack while enjoying the good weather. The population
on the island is varied so there are restaurants and takeaways that do British,
Italian, Chinese, Greek and Indian food.
Majorca has a variety of activities available, and Pula Golf is a resort that
has a demanding 18-hole golf course to challenge holidaymakers. The beautiful
hot weather of Majorca is perfect for golfers who will enjoy the dry warm
conditions while tackling the course. Of the other activities available, water sports
and exploring the island are recommended.
The dramatic mountain range of Sierra de Tramuntana is in the northern part of
the island and is home to some picturesque villages that are worth visiting.
For families the white-sand beach of Playa de Palma is perfect and offers a
nearby water park, beach bars pubs and clubs.
The Caves del Drac “Dragon Caves”, are limestone caves by Porto Cristo. These
caves are popular with tourists and a tour through the caves is recommended for
a day out.
Majorca offers a lot as a summer holiday destination and with bars, beaches,
water sports and landmarks to visit, is well suited to families. The sunny
weather and Mediterranean Sea makes a holiday to Majorca a tempting option.
