every week, the state's largest shopping mall, ala moana center, features a 10-15 minute fireworks show from the man made island, magic island, right across from the center facing the water. it is a great way to unwind after a hard week of work or something to look forward to every week. although i can’t speak for how crowded the beach becomes during the show—i can watch the show from my condo—an evening picnic in the park by the beach sounds fantastic followed by an evening stroll during the show can make for a romantic/fun evening. a word of caution: the beach is dimly lit at night and somewhat deserted, a stark contrast from during the day, so be safe and watch your surroundings as miscreants do roam.
