Btw, the semi-precious stone inlay work you see in a couple of the pictures is a specialty of the artisans of agra.  You can visit the local artisans' cooperative (ask your tour guide or hotel concierge) and buy beautiful tables, etc. with the same inlay in very intricate designs - the prices range from a couple of hundred bucks all the way up to...

I stayed at the Amarvilas Oberoi hotel, which is beautifully done with a lovely view of the Taj Mahal.  The restaurants are good, the rooms are comfortable, and the setting is appropriate for immersing yourself in the romance of the Taj Mahal.
