Photos of Frere Hall in Karachi, Pakistan. This building is a remnant of the British Raj and stands in the middle of a public park coming down from Clifton Bridge towards downtown Karachi, just opposite the Marriott Hotel. These photos are from a room in the top floor of the Marriott.
The history of the building itself is a bit murky to me despite growing up inits shadow. I've been inside once almost twenty years ago. It was musty, but some sort of a museum. Now, I do not believe it is open to the public because of security concerns - in addition to being across the street from the Marriott, it is also across the street from the US Consulate. Unfortunately, the park itself is largely desolate as well because of the security concerns.
Regardless of whether it is open or not, it is worth seeing as a beautiful example of British Raj architecture in Karachi.
