Dubai.... where do I start about this marvelous city? I am not kidding when I say that there is no other city on this entire planet (or any other planet, for that matter) that is as interesting as this desert city. You wouldn't guess from the photos that this city was situated in the middle of the desert, would you? But this architectural man-made wonder, that is Dubai, keeps changing at such a hurried pace, that I could never recognize it in my many trips that I made to this city, usually only 6 months apart.
Dubai is all about glitz and glamour. And yet, it is also affordable for the common man. To spot an Arab in Dubai is like spotting an oasis in the desert... rare. They're way too rich to be sitting at home; they're all off traveling the globe. Dubai is mostly populated with Indians and Pakistanis, but with the vast number of tourists who are in Dubai almost all year round, it is as multicultural as a city can ever get in the Middle East.
The Sheikh of Dubai believes that there is NO structure that Dubai can't pull off. Already, the city is filled with several man-made lakes, and they have also expanded to building man-made islands. What's more, they have even brought winter to Dubai, in the form of the Ski Dome - a building that's simulates being in winter with fake ice and snow, as well as such low temperatures that you have to dress like you would in Canada. Not just that, but you can also ski inside! Yes, the dome is that tall that there is a fake snow mountain inside the building that people take a ski lift (!!!!) to reach the top. And now, Dubai is going to be the owner of the tallest building in the world known as the "Burj Tower".
Simply speaking, nothing is impossible in the city of Dubai. It may be difficult, but not impossible!
(P.S. - One post is hardly any justification to the wonderful things I have to say about this city, so stay tuned for more!)
The city that NEVER sleeps.
