The Poblet Monastery is located in Tarragona, Spain, about an hour and a half north of Barcelona. The monastery was established in the mid-12th century, but was set on fire during the Carlist War. We decided to visit the monastery at Aubazine, and ended up staying to hear an hour-long guided tour. The building was absolutely gorgeous – the monastery dates back to the 11th century and connects to a large church right next to it. A 300-year old Maronite Monastery built into a steep mountain. It is cut off from the outside world and the only way up is a trek on foot through the mountain.
