The beaches in Northern California usually aren't the nicest ones you can find, but if you happen to be in norcal and want to spend a day at the beach, go to Montara State Beach, just north of Half Moon Bay in San Mateo County. It's a beautiful beach with great views. The water is great, the sand is clean, and it's just a beautiful sight. There are restaurants and grocery stores nearby.
