The Poblet Monastery is located in Tarragona, Spain, about an hour and a half north of Barcelona. The monastery was established in the mid-12th century, but was set on fire during the Carlist War. It was rebuilt and reinhabited in the 1930s. It is really an experience to go and see how a monastery functions today. There are guided tours led by abbots of the monastery, which are very informative and give great insight into the life of a monk and their purpose. The monastery is really beautiful. It has actually been the location of quite a few Vogue Espana photo shoots as well.
