Still in Yongshun. I need to hang about for a few days andthis place seems like an alright place to do it.

I decided to go for a walk along the river. I'd seen a pagoda on top of anearby hill so thought I'd investigate. A mini expedition that cost me 48 RMB.It was some kind of temple area / grave yard / hotel and restaurant / policegathering / special shower. I know that seems like a long list, but that's justwhat it was. There was about 40 police cars lined up down the road, obviouslyjust finishing up at the restaurant. Police convention or something. Anyway. Iturned right and went down to explore the river.

I heard some noises behind a wall and wandered what it wasall about. A man popped out and we had a chat.

He was a local monk from the top of the hill and he'd justhad a shower. He explained that it wasn't river water but hot water. I had afeeling that it was sacred or more likely lucky water, as everyone seemed toknow about it. Even a taxi driver on the way out asked me if I'd had a shower.Should have brought my towel.

I sat by the river and just stared at it. I haven't donethat for a long time, and its something that I love doing. You mind drifts off,carried away with the current.
