Japanese locals and tourists alike are drawn to Mt. Fuji, and many attempt to climb or hike up the mountain. The "official climbing season" takes place during July and August, lasting from around July 20th or so to the end of the month of August. Typically, there is not much snow found on the moutain until October. When there is not much snow, temperatures on the peak of the mountain can become extremely low and dangerous; it is best to avoid making the climb from October to mid June (outside of climbing season), because of extreme climate and conditions.
