waikiki beach is world famous for its crescent shaped beach that hugs the coastline outlined by the beautiful diamond head. about 95% of the tourists that come to oahu live in waikiki, a shopping, playing, and dining extravaganza. a fun thing to do after diner to walk off that delicious dinner you just ate at one of the amazing restaurants along the beach is probably walk down the strip. although most already walk down the strip during the day, whether to shop or dine, at night, it transforms into a street performer’s haven. performance art to a string trio playing classical music to just the downright weird—a dancing panda—it is a great way to enjoy the night and to take in the relaxing atmosphere of kalakaua avenue. always remember though to remain cautious of oncoming traffic. too often people try to avoid the sidewalks due to the large crowds by walking along the road behind the street performers; accidents do and have occurred!
