if you have a car, definitely take the time out to drive to the north shore or the more deserted areas of oahu, in order to savor the island at its less commercialized scene. some of my friends and i have driven out to the other side of the island (we live in town), and have several times, looked for a random/empty beach, where we’d lay out our towels and stargaze. usually we’d try to find somewhere that isn’t too deserted or illegal to park, and look up into the sky, where we have seen shooting stars. it’s a great way to simply hang out, savor the night air, and leave the noise and lights of the busier side of the island.
